Valley Academy

Welcome to Valley Academy

We believe that God has placed unique gifts and skills in every single person. Valley Academy exists to help you discover your ministry and what God has called you to do.

We invite you to join our training programme, running each September, designed to train and equip potential leaders to launch new campuses and extension services.

Whether you see yourself as part of a church planting team, or you’re just interested in your own personal development as a leader, our academy is a perfect starting point.

Applications are open for September 2017. Read through the brochure and prospectus below, and then hit “Apply Now” to get the process started!

Content and Structure

Valley Academy is run as a part-time course with classes and practical experience ranging from Church Leadership, Communication, Ministry Development, Biblical Studies and more. There will be training from Valley Church pastors and leaders as well as experienced church leaders from around the UK and abroad. Every student will be in a tutorial group for the purpose of pastoral care and mentoring.

Valley Academy runs from September to July (see prospectus for specific dates). You are encouraged to seek or continue part-time work around the academic course. We recommend that working hours do not exceed 20 hours each week, so that you can keep up with the demands of the course. The course will include both day-time and occassional evening sessions as well as practical church involvement.

FAQ

How much does it cost?
It costs £1000 for the year. A 10% deposit is due at your interview with the balance payable in various ways, discussed with you beforehand.

I don’t see myself as a leader, can I still apply?
Yes! We believe leadership is more about serving God and serving others and not about a title. If you’re willing to do that then you have influence that makes you a leader!

What qualifications do I need?
You need to be at least 18 and either have completed two years post high school studies or two years of experience in the work place. If you have completed our Year In programme first, aged 16 or 17, we will also consider you for Academy.

Is there accommodation available?
You will be responsible for arranging your own accommodation. However, there may be families in the church willing to rent out a room. Get in touch to discuss availability.

How many students are on the course?
Spaces are limited and so we encourage prospective students to apply promptly. Last year there were seven students.

Where is the Academy held?
The academy is based at Valley Church’s Preston campus, with various activities that will take place offsite.

What will I need for the course?
It is essential for every student to have a Bible, a notepad and a laptop/tablet with keyboard. A car would be very helpful although public transport links are good.

Is financial support available?
We cannot offer financial support but would encourage you to raise money and seek part-time work to finance your year at the Academy.
