Why is Christmas Significant For Me? (1)
Today’s blog post is a guest post by Ben Clarke, one of the awesome young leaders at Valley Church. Hear what he has to say about the significance of Christmas…
I love a good story as much as the next person, but the story of Christmas is like no other, a story that would be passed down generations and never fade away, a story of the birth of a baby king. Every single year millions of people are introduced to a new significance that comes with this story and through this post I will show you why Christmas is significant to me!
When we look at the life of Jesus we tend to skip to the miracles, the crucifixion and the resurrection. No one really pays much to the attention to the birth (excluding nativity plays and the carols sung at Christmas time). But like any good story, it has to start somewhere and this particular story started about 2000 years ago in Bethlehem.
I guess what blows my mind about the Christmas story is that, Jesus Christ—the saviour of the world—was born as a baby, just like you and me… minus the stable.
Christmas is significant to me because it reminds me that Jesus came to Earth, lived a perfect life, died and rose again, all to free me from sin and bridge the divide between humans and God, allowing us to have a relationship with our creator! I just find it hard to fathom sometimes that God sent Jesus for me.
So that’s why Christmas is significant to me, have a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
