Sunday Summary, 16/3/14

Valley Church
Well, happy birthday Valley Church. We have officially turned 7 years old and I think I speak on behalf of our whole church when I say yesterday was one of the most significant Sunday’s in our history.
Ps Glyn Barrett set the tone when he began the day prophesying and praying for our senior pastors. He went on to preach an outstanding message about God’s expectations for our lives, which, if you missed, you MUST go back and listen to it.
He said that God’s only limitation is our expectation. In other words, even though God can do anything, He won’t do anything. He loves to work with us according to our faith.
And then a great day took to new levels as Ps Ed shared in the evening about baptism, celebrations and following Jesus. We saw five people baptised, each with an incredible testimony about all that God has done for them. After Ps Glyn had so well articulated how salvation works in the morning, I thought it was so cool to hear people tell their real-life accounts of it actually happening!
And then our final party of the Year of Parties! We had way more people than we’d planned for (praise God for a great problem to have!) so the programme pretty much went out of the window. It was just so cool to see so many people hanging out after the church service continue to be the church, eating together and chatting together for a long time afterwards.
One final thought came from Ps Ed at the end of the night. He said that although the final party of the Year of Parties is over, it doesn’t need to be the final party full stop! Let’s keep opening our lives, opening our homes and seeking to connect people to Jesus by loving God, loving life and loving people… And having a whole load of fun doing it!
