Community Action Team

The Community Action Team exists to empower residents with overgrown gardens. The team comes alongside the residents we help to, builds into their lives, and works with them with a team of incredible volunteers who give their time to completely transform their garden!

The team get to use petrol power tools and a whole host of other regular and specialist gardening equipment. The team work to a very high standard and have been recognised locally and nationally for the achievements they have made in making a difference in the local community.

Achievements

The Community Action Team have received a number of awards from the work we have done. This includes:

  • Lancashire Green Award 2010
  • Lancashire Green Award 2011
  • Community Star Award 2011
  • Green Apple Award 2012
  • Blackpool Coastal Housing adopting and adapting the Valley Church ‘Community Action Team’ model to support their tenants with overgrown gardens 2014-present

Engage

When working with the community, we feel it is important to maintain and form great relationships with residents after projects have been completed.

Get involved

If you know someone the team could help then let your Connect Group leader know. One of the Community Action Team Leaders will then come alongside your group and help you all to plan and deliver the project together, adding even more a personal touch to the difference you will be able to make in their life.

If you would like to volunteer with the Community Action Team or would like any more information, you can contact James Baker via email or via phone on 01772 696717.
