I’ve always loved to be able to contribute to the Big Give but this year has been extra special for me as I got to bless someone personally with a gift. It was such a privilege to be planning and thinking about how to bless an amazing family in our community who tragically lost a family member over the summer. Having dealt with quite a number of losses in my own family over the years we wanted to let them know they are not alone and that we are praying for them. It truly was an honour to be preparing their gifts.
I’m so grateful for the amazing people in our connect group who so readily and generously contributed as we were all really excited to make a difference in their lives. I believe we can all make an impact with what we have when we make ourselves available to God but there is something very powerful about coming together and seeing our little becoming something big for someone when we decide to give what we have.
The family was blown away by their gift and it really was the best feeling to know that we were able to spread a little bit of the heart of God at Christmas to those beautiful people.
It made me realise that behind everything we give in church, small or big, there is another person, a life that can be impacted for the better and I believe it is an absolute honour to be part our local church and let’s always remember that people matter.
